【概略】
ニューヨークの出版社で働くことを夢見るアンディは、一流ファッション誌「ランウェイ」の編集長ミランダ・プリーストリーのアシスタントとして採用される。ファッションに興味のない彼女は、完璧さを求めるミランダの無理難題に振り回され、私生活も恋人や友人との関係が崩れていく。やがてアンディは、成功のために自分が変わり始めていることに気づき、仕事と自分らしさのどちらを選ぶべきか葛藤する。ミランダの冷徹な姿勢の裏にある孤独やプロとしての矜持を知ったアンディは、最終的に自分の価値観を取り戻し、決断する。華やかな業界の裏側と、キャリアと人生のバランスを問う物語。
【感想】
物語はファッションに全く興味のないジャーナリスト志望の英才女子がファンション誌編集責任者のアシスタントになって、悪戦苦闘する話。仕事をするうちに英才女子は洗練されたファッションを身に着けることになりファビュラスでゴージャスな女性へと変身していく。24時間仕事モードは当時（20年前）のハードワーカーのあるべき姿だった。それがまた望むべき姿でもあっただろう。ラストまですったもんだはありつつドタバタと展開するドラマを平常心で見ていたが、ラスト、クライマックスでグッときてしまった。

Andy, who dreams of working at a publishing company in New York, is hired as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of the top fashion magazine “Runway.” With no interest in fashion, she is thrown into chaos by Miranda’s impossible demands for perfection, and her personal life, including her relationships with her boyfriend and friends, begins to fall apart. Eventually, Andy realizes that she is starting to change herself to succeed and struggles with whether to choose her job or her true self. Upon understanding the loneliness and professional pride behind Miranda’s ruthless demeanor, Andy ultimately regains her own values and makes a decision. The story explores the glamorous industry’s behind-the-scenes and questions the balance between career and life.
The story is about a bright young woman aspiring to be a journalist, who has no interest in fashion, becoming the assistant to the head of a fashion magazine and struggling through various challenges. Through her work, she starts wearing sophisticated fashion and gradually transforms into a fabulous and glamorous woman. The 24-hour work mode represented the ideal for hard workers at that time (20 years ago), and it was probably seen as an admirable approach. I watched the chaotic and bustling developments of the drama with a calm mind, but at the climax near the end, I was moved.
