【概略】
若き航海士エドモン・ダンテスは船長への昇進が決まり結婚も控えていたが、ある策略により無実の罪で投獄されてしまう。絶望の中、脱獄を企てる老司祭との出会いにより希望を取り戻していく。司祭は彼に学問と教養を授け、さらにテンプル騎士団の隠し財宝の存在を打ち明ける。囚われの身となってから14年後、奇跡的に脱獄を果たしたダンテスは莫大な財宝を手に入れ、謎に包まれた大富豪「モンテ・クリスト伯」としてパリ社交界に姿を現す。彼は、自らの人生を奪った3人の男たちに近づき、復讐をせんとする…。
【感想】
正義感の強い男が邪な男たちに嵌められて長年投獄されてしまうという理不尽さ。この理不尽さに憤りを感じ主人公に同情する。モンテ・クリスト伯ことエドモンが被る覆面がどこまで精巧なのか、あの時代にあそこまでの覆面が作られるのかと疑問を持つけれど、それはさておき、全体としてのつくりは素晴らしく登場する女性たちが気になった。男は悪い奴ばかり、女は翻弄されるばかり。とても見ごたえのある復讐劇であったが、これでモンテ・クリスト伯は憂さ晴らし、恨みをはらせたのだろうか。
エデ役のアナマリア・バルトロメイがとても良かった。「ヴィオレッタ」という少女ヌード事件の映画に１０歳でタイトルロールを演じた。この映画と2021年・第78回ベネチア国際映画祭で金獅子賞を受賞した「あのこと」の主人公アンヌで彼女を見ている。復讐と恋心の狭間に苦悶する女性をよく演じていた。メルセデスを演じたアナイス・ドゥムースティエも良かった。エドモンを恋していた女性をよく演じている。「彼は秘密の女ともだち」が印象に残っている。

【Summary】
The young sailor Edmond Dantès was set to be promoted to captain and was also about to get married, but due to a certain plot, he was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. In his despair, he regains hope through his encounter with an old priest who is planning an escape. The priest imparts knowledge and education to him, and furthermore reveals the existence of a hidden treasure of the Knights Templar. Fourteen years after being imprisoned, Dantès miraculously escapes, acquires a massive fortune, and appears in Parisian high society as the mysterious wealthy man known as the Count of Monte Cristo. He approaches the three men who took away his life, seeking revenge…
【Impressions】
The unfairness of a man with a strong sense of justice being framed by wicked men and imprisoned for many years. Feeling anger at this unfairness, I sympathize with the protagonist. I wonder how intricate the mask that Edmond, the Count of Monte Cristo, wears is, and whether such a mask could really be made in that era, but setting that aside, the overall production was wonderful, and I was intrigued by the women who appeared. The men were all bad, and the women were all merely swept along. It was a very compelling revenge story, but I wonder if, through this, the Count of Monte Cristo was able to vent his frustrations and get his revenge.
Anamaria Vartolomei, who played Haydée, was very good. She played the title role in the film “My Little Princess,” which involved a child nudity incident, at the age of 10. I have seen her in this film and as Anne, the protagonist of ” L’evenement,” which won the Golden Lion at the 78th Venice International Film Festival in 2021. She portrayed a woman agonizing between revenge and romantic feelings very well. Anaïs Demoustier, who played Mercedes, was also good. She convincingly played a woman in love with Edmond. “Une nouvelle amie” left a lasting impression on me.
【Résumé】
Le jeune marin Edmond Dantès était sur le point d’être promu capitaine et de se marier, mais il fut emprisonné à tort à cause d’un complot. Dans le désespoir, il retrouve l’espoir grâce à sa rencontre avec un vieux prêtre qui planifie une évasion. Le prêtre lui enseigne la science et la culture et lui révèle l’existence d’un trésor caché des Templiers. Quatorze ans après avoir été emprisonné, Dantès parvient à s’évader miraculeusement, s’empare d’une immense fortune et réapparaît dans la haute société parisienne sous l’identité mystérieuse du richissime comte de Monte-Cristo. Il se rapproche alors des trois hommes qui lui ont volé sa vie pour se venger…
【Impressions】
L’injustice qu’un homme au fort sens de la justice est piégé par des hommes mauvais et emprisonné pendant de nombreuses années. Je ressens de la colère face à cette injustice et je sympathise avec le protagoniste. Je me demande à quel point le masque porté par Edmond, alias le comte de Monte-Cristo, est élaboré et si un tel masque pouvait être fabriqué à cette époque, mais cela mis à part, la structure globale est merveilleuse et les femmes qui apparaissent m’ont intrigué. Les hommes sont tous mauvais, les femmes ne font que se laisser troubler. C’était une histoire de vengeance très captivante, mais le comte de Monte-Cristo a-t-il pu ainsi se venger et apaiser sa rancune ?
Anamaria Vartolomei, qui joue le rôle de Haydée, était excellente. Elle a joué le rôle principal à l’âge de 10 ans dans le film sur l’affaire du nu d’une jeune fille intitulé «My Little Princess ». Je l’ai vue dans ce film et dans « L’Événement », primé au Lion d’Or à la 78e Mostra de Venise en 2021, où elle joue le rôle d’Anne, la protagoniste. Elle a bien incarné une femme déchirée entre vengeance et sentiments amoureux. Anaïs Demoustier, qui joue Mercedes, était également excellente. Elle a très bien joué le rôle de la femme amoureuse d’Edmond. La mention de « Une nouvelle amie » m’a marqué.
